The Schwanke Honors Institute welcomes applicants who have completed their freshman year of high school by June 2020 (rising sophomores) as well as rising juniors, seniors and those students entering college Fall 2020. Enrollment in the Institute is limited to 40 students, and so we encourage early applications.

Estimated Costs

Tuition: $1,009 (Montana residents and non-residents pay the same tuition)

Program Fee: $791 (Includes housing, meals, transportation, and field trips) 

Please note, housing is (double occupancy for 12 nights)

Scholarships: There are a limited number of tuition-only scholarships which will be awarded on the basis of financial need. Please fill out and submit the 2020 Schwanke Honors Institute Scholarship Application in addition to this general application. 

Presidential Leadership Scholarship semi-finalists may request these needs-based scholarships and will also be granted a $500 scholarship.

Statement of Interest

In 500 words or less, students need to describe their interest in participating in the Schwanke Honors Institute. Please be specific in the relevant experiences you have had, what you are interested in learning, and why you would like to participate in this Institute. You should prepare the statement in Word and then be ready to copy and paste the statement into the application below.

Unofficial High School Transcript

The application requires students' unofficial high school transcript. Be sure to have this document so that it will be ready for uploading. PDF or Word are acceptable formats.

The scholarship priority registration deadline is March 15th.

The general registration deadline is April 15th. 

Students will be notified on a rolling basis if they have been accepted into the Institute.
